The DFNYC has a Reasearch Wiki
Very, very nice. The DFNYC has opened, Main Page - DfnycResearch, a wiki for their Research and Advocacy committees. I hope it takes off because there is nothing like this for New York City politics.
Here at The Daily Gotham we do have a feature called "Books". They are like collaborative blogs where one person can post "a page", link it a "Book" and then have others come in an contribute and/or change it. I guess because the feature is so close to being like a blog not a lot of people are too crazy about Drupal's book features. Wikis, on the other hand, hook people in a whole different way. I guess it does not hurt that the most widely use wiki software was put out by the people that produced Wikipedia.
Here's the information I got from the DFNYC :
Now that you have all had a chance to recover from primary season, it's time to get back to business. Our next full Research & Advocacy meeting will be Wednesday, September 28 at 7pm, again at Cosi 76th St & Broadway.
We will have presentations on local energy & environmental issues, as well as public access television and the media on a national level. In addition, we will briefly discuss the progress you all have made since the last meeting.
As a reminder, if you have not yet created an account on the R&A wiki, do so now. The URL is http://www.dfnyc.org/research.

Good to point those out but with a distiction
The DFNYC's wiki deals only with research of political issues concerning New York. No oral history or gossip. Just politics. So it is indeed, the only one of its kind.
fair enough
maybe I'll go put a J-Lo pick there.

Wiki's in NYC not new
Actually there are NYC wikis that have been around for a while. Starting with http://www.nywiki.com which has been around for a long time. Then DailyHeights also has a wiki here: http://www.dailyheights.com/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page and thats been around awhile.
and my site http://onNYTurf.com is half wiki half blog, which has been up since April and no-registration reqd editing of the site has been available for about a month.
But good on DFNYC, wikis are great.
