About the W. J. Mahoney Club
The Albany Project and Daily Gotham have been all over the tangled tale of Joe Bruno's little helpers, Roger Stone and Michael Caputo; now, it looks as if we need to add another chapter to the saga of the tripartite Axis of Weasel, because there's more preposterousness to report.
Since Thursday at 2:15 PM Eastern, four emails have gone out to the same group of recipients that also receive the Stone/Caputo emails. These bear the imprimatur of the W. J. Mahoney GOP Club of Buffalo.
The problem is that there is no such club. A Google search produces no evidence of this club's actual existence. W.J. Mahoney did indeed exist, and was a republican to boot; he was a co-founder of the New York State Young republicans in 1932. Per Political Graveyard, he was a member of the State Senate and still alive in 1964. In short, this is astroturf.
The newest email after the flip, and some interesting stuff about this web site.

As you can see, this is pretty straightforward election stuff and, one can speculate, a preview of the Bruno forces' election pitch come 2008.

GOP-Club.com was registered, per WHOIS, by a company called Domains by Proxy. Their service is simply to obscure your ownership if you want to post a web site and not have it be known that you're behind it. Domains by Proxy, Inc., is also the registrant of NYFacts.net, a site that Caputo now acknowledges as his. Of course, as Politicker notes, the emails for the new site also went to the same list that also receives the Stone emails and the Caputo emails.
Now, that same list is receiving emails geared to Roger Stone's main objective, saving Joe Bruno. The methods are those of erstwhile Daily Gotham contributor Michael Caputo.
That's an awful lot of coincidences for two republican operatives who claim to not presently be working together, though they have in the past, to have in common.
Of course, there's also the option that the trio of Stone, Caputo and Bruno is lying.
