File under "wackos running for office"

Whenever I find myself thinking that the soap opera that is New York's electoral process can't get any more exotic - and one is tempted to think this quite often - along comes someone even more exotic. People do run for the oddest of reasons.

Today's award for noticeable extravagance goes to one Christopher Strunk, running as a republican against Democrat Velmanette Montgomery in the 18th District. This not because general republican policy positions seem outlandish on their own merits, but I'll let him speak for himself. Spelling is maintained as in the original.

On Jesuits:

The banning of the Jesuits is a matter of process that must start based upon existing law.

[...]Fr. De Chardin’s Liberation Theology mission was and is continued to transform USA sovereignty under Vatican domination over U.S. Government Policy, against citizen protections of the First Amendment, intended to replace all religious practice with one world Gaia worship. That Fr. De Chardin and the Vatican’s enterprise acts in conjunction with agents of the New York Chatauqua Assemblies, corporate members of the Kellogg Foundation and related entities complicit with elements of the Central Intelligence Agency in the Hemisphere wrongly protected by segmented methods of secrecy.

Under Republican Party on the party's candidate's web site, we find:

The Republican party were it to survive must have a different slant on environmentalist treason and obstrurtion of human progress here in the State, the Greens and now the Dems are a tool of Big Oil and Big Religion that have covetted Big Government.

Did you know that New York State has Oil reserves? Yeah how about that. So lets drill for oil upstate and refine it here so we can drive the enironmentalists and BIG Oil nuts! Chavez has nothing on what we can do here in New York.

On the ongoing genocide in the 18th Senatorial District of New York:

A genocidal disaster is going on here in this community and elsewhere. I contend and have publicly litigated the issue alleging that the black community here has been targeted with genocide by the Vatican Holy See and its’ business component with the Sovereignty Military Order of Malta (SMOM), that conspire with Saudi investors enriched by OPEC gouging, want to gobble up the valuable real estate on which the Black Community here reside.

I am therefore proclaiming that there is a violation of the Proxmire Act of 1988 with acts of genocide using abortion to target the black community for extinction in a similar way as the SMOM and the Bush and Clinton family have targeted community living arrangements there in Texas, recently alleging, as if a CIA cointelpro operation, that somehow children in a pseudo Mormon Klan have been molested; which this week has been found by a court to be untrue.

If there were any republican blogs left in New York, I'd ask them what they think of this. But alas, there aren't any.

That's entertainment!

Based on the writing style, I'm wondering if this might be the same Christopher Strunk. If so, I think you may have uncovered a major new talent. The guy is deep. http://searchwarp.com/swa43957.htm

Seriously???

THIS is what they are pulling out against Velmanette??? Actually I bet the Republican Party is cringing at this one. Oh boy am I going to make use of THIS guy's words. This is what modern Republicanism leads to?

I met Velmanette's Democratic challenger, Tony Herbert. Seemed not a bad guy, but clearly a Ratner drone. He claimed ignorance that Ratner was backing out of the affordable housing promise. I wanted to point out that even Bill DeBlasio and Hakeem Jeffries were pissed about that one, so how could he be ignorant of it. Interestingly, seems Tony Herbert spent a stint as a Republican for awhile as well. His claim is he expected the Brooklyn machine to back him and when they didn't he bolted to the Republicans. Well, I guess Tish James bolted to the Working Families Party, but let's face it, those are two different things ideologically.

Lyndon Larouche?

Sounds like one of Larouche's guys. So they're joining the Republicans now. Good, that's where they belong.

What about Powers vs. Powers in cd 13?

In the 13th CD, Francis H. Powers is to be the GOP nominee to replace Vito Fossella. But now his son, also named Francis H. Powers, has filed to run as the Libertarian Party nominee. The son is estranged from his father. He is running purely to confuse voters, and cost his father votes, to make sure his old man loses. The same candidate on two different lines on the ballot is so common that many people will assume the Francis H. Powers on the Libertarian line is the same as the one on the GOP line. Except it wouldn't be the case this time. The kid could cost his father the election.

Only in New York folks...
