God Loves America

...turns out He managed to get through to George Pataki, causing the latter to reconsider this running for the Presidency business.

From the Manchester Union Leader:

Pataki said that "he's not going to actively campaign for President, indefinitely," said a person at the dinner who asked not to be named. "He never came out and said, 'I'm not running for President,' but everybody basically saw the handwriting on the wall, which is he's out. When you tell your activists it's OK to go support other candidates, the handwriting is on the wall."

"He said he is going to shift direction and focus on policy and spend more time with his family," the source said.

Thank You, oh Lord, for letting that cup pass us by.

Well

I thought it could be a pretty amusing cup.

It's a bad time for GOP presidential contenders. The Dems have anywhere from 3-5 genuine stars in contention this cycle, while they have 2 fading stars and a collection of dwarves.

Totally off-topic

But allow me to point out your excellent diaries on DailyKos and here.

I've been following the 'conservative' movement for years, and that's some of the best stuff I've read on it. Truly outstanding.

Thanks

The Summit was my big story, and it's why I haven't been posting a lot on TDG this week. But I'll be back.... And I'll keep plugging away at A&S on the conservative movement.

Outed

...and you should be glad - I was wondering who that person with "Brooklyn" in his/her screen name was, now I know!

Those diaries were awesome. Not only stylish and informative, but what intestinal fortitude it must have taken. My hat is off to you; thanks again for them.

I just saw them both speak in person

Let me tell you, based on what I saw, Romney's a dud, but Huckabee's got mad skillz.

sidnora's picture

I don't know

much about Romney up close & personal, but I've had my eye on Huckabee for a while now. Even though the oppo research is starting to pop up with some dirt on him recently, he's still my choice for the stealth GOP nominee: right-wing religio-nutjob, but low-key enough about it that he doesn't set off the alarm bells like Brownback does, articulate (yes, that word!), affable, doesn't have a real heavy Southern accent.

When I mention him to less politically-involved people, which I've been doing as an informal survey, what I usually get is, "He's the guy who lost 100 lbs, right?". Which is probably just where he wants to start from, positive and non-threatening. And he comes from Hope (AR), God help us.

He may be a dwarf, but he's a dangerous dwarf.

Bouldin's picture

I'd be worried about

...Giuliani-Brownback. That could be lethal.

KNEW IT

I knew Pataki was backing out when I posted on Bluespot that he gave up his NH Hqts. Now we have to get the other jerk out. Guiliani.

If we got ALL the jerks out...

If we got ALL the jerks out, there would be no Republican candidates Eye-wink
