John Edwards to suspend campaigning
Via Politico, and privately confirmed: due to his wife's recurring bout with cancer, Presidential candiate John Edwards will suspend active campaigning. He is still, however, running for President, and supposedly, this will be only a short interruption depending on Elizabeth Edwards' status.
Warm thoughts and prayers for Elizabeth Edwards, I'm sure, would be warmly appreciated.
[Update]: Live press conference. Nope, the campaign goes on, he's still running, and nothing will change.

Well, some of us got that one wrong. He's still running! It just goes to show that it's best to hear it from the horse's mouth rather than rely on the speculation of the press.
I, too, thought he would SUSPEND campaigning, but I think Elizabeth wants him to keep on going. She's going to make a great First Lady. Just remember what Betty Ford did for the women in America when she talked candidly about her breast cancer. Back then, the subject was not discussed.
Then you look at what we've got in there now - Laura Bush, the most useless First Lady in history. What will she be remembered for? A BAD mother who raised rotten kids, a bad wife who can't keep her husband straight. Never been candid about anything. What could Laura have taught us? What it was like to run over and kill a guy?
Anyway, this is great news about John's candidacy. We really need him. I'm ready to declare my support for him. I'm also proud that he is from the state where I was born and raised. Maybe it will help make up for all the years I had to explain Jesse Helms.
As for Elizabeth, God bless her. The cancer news is not good, but they have decided to make the best of the situation, and I think that's the best thing anyone can do.
