Make that Hillary "Rodham" Clinton, please

I really am starting to love Hillary again; a few days ago, a story came out that indicated that Hillary Rodham Clinton polls better for 2008 than just plain old Hillary Clinton, sans Rodham.

And today, I get an email from Hillary Rodham Clinton at HillPAC, with this header image:

You have to hand it to her: she will do what it takes.

[Update]: Heh, oops. I just went back into my old email, and she's always used that moniker. To be precise, her Friends of Hillary mailing list uses just "Hillary", without any surname, while HillPAC (and things she's done for the DSCC) always refer to her as Hillary Rodham Clinton. Hence the confusion: I'm on several Hillary mailing lists. Nothing to see here folks, move on.

Hillary Rodham

well you know for most of her political life she was Hillary Rodham. She didn't take her husband's last name until Bill was running for re-election as governor and the gop made it a campaign issue. Like she was somehow disrespecting her husband by not taking his name. So she took his name. Rodham's a high society name, she's from a rich family, her parents probably didn't like her taking the name of some poor family in Arkansas. Putting Rodham back in her name also reminds primary voters she's feminist.

Brooklyn assemblyman Vito Lopez, who is pushing hard to win the county's Democratic Party leadership post made vacant by the conviction of his former assembly colleague, Clarence Norman, Jr., has something else in common with Norman: Both men used political campaign committees to pay for their personal cars, and then accepted mileage reimbursement from the legislature - a legal no-no according to Brooklyn District Attorney Charles "Joe" Hynes who won indictments against Norman for that very offense.

State election board filings show that since 1999 the Bushwick pol's campaign committee, "Friends of Vito Lopez," has routinely shelled out $500 a month in leasing costs for his Acura sports car, and another $2800 a year for his auto insurance costs. It also pays more than $200 a month for a luxury dashboard computer service. In addition, the committee picks up a monthly American Express bill for the assemblyman, a tab that runs from $400 to $8,000 a month.
