Memo to Hillary -- Stop it!
The New York Times is now reporting that Clinton supporters are demanding that their donations to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) be returned. This is merely the latest cheap tactic, straight out of the “divide and destroy†playbook of Lee Atwater and Karl Rove, that Hillary Clinton and her campaign have resorted to in a desperate attempt to pull victory out of certain defeat. Or perhaps it’s her way of ensuring a Democratic loss this fall so that she can run again in four years.
Whatever her reason, she should be ashamed of herself. She isn’t, of course, because she, like her husband, never gave a damn about the Democratic Party. All either of them cares about is their own personal power. Maybe, 35 years ago, they actually cared about making things better, but somewhere along the line they lost sight of that goal.
In his eight years in the Oval Office, Bill Clinton spent far more time playing games with the Republicans than helping Democrats. He wasted opportunities to restore Democratic control of Congress, and failed to fight for anything more than getting himself reelected. In 1996, Democrats picked up only eight House seats and actually lost two Senate seats, despite the fact that more Republican seats were contested than Democratic seats. The only reason for Democratic gains in 1998 was stupid, shortsighted Republican zealotry – they were so eager to impeach him that they lost sight of the goal. Even then, we only picked up five House seats and no Senate seats.
Now along comes Hillary Clinton. Can anyone imagine her standing on a platform with some Democratic state legislator, giving her support – and having that support mean anything? It’s not going to happen; Democrats will gain seats in both houses of Congress this year – unless Hillary Clinton and her gang of thugs are allowed to continue their “divide and destroy†tactics.
Meanwhile, at the DNC, Howard Dean’s 50-state strategy has already paid off, and if allowed to continue will put the Democratic Party back in the majority for a long time to come. But if Hillary Clinton is allowed to continue undermining Dean’s efforts, the end result will be another generation of Republican rule.
Am I playing the fear card? You bet I am! It’s time we understood what we really have to fear in this country, and right now it’s Hillary Clinton.

Loyalty
I have consistently maintained that, although she has not been my first choice, I am happy, in fact eager to support Hillary Clinton if she gets the nomination.
But Hillary is making it harder and harder to maintain any enthusiasm for her. In particular her disloyalty to the Democratic Party is starting to grate on me big time. Implying "Third Bush Term" McCain might be a better choice than Obama was bad enough. But urging her supporters to stop backing the DNC? That is really pretty damned disgusting.
To the Clintons: I am a proud Democrat. If you want my enthusiastic support, you had better be a proud Democrat as well.
