Everything He Says Is A Lie Including "And" and "The"
I steal, of course, Mary McCarthy’s line about Lillian Hellman. One of the more dispiriting things about the unending parade of Bush-lies which threaten further war in the world is that we lose our capacity for outrage and indignation. The man, it appears, is without shame. I write, (bemused, days after all this has been revealed) about the bald-faced untruths about Iran’s nuclear policy propagated by a President who seems to have never met a falsehood he would not utter to advance his agenda.
You may have read all about the fact that the US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) for Iran concluded a long time ago that Iran had ceased its nuclear weapons program in 2003 . If so, forget all about the links that follow but one: Maureen Dowd’s exquisite essay on Mr. Bush’s faith-based flights of fantasy. Ms. Dowd's work is often too snarky for me, but here, she got perfect-pitch. Is it as startling to you as it is to me that the Bush-fastasy hasn't stopped? Wednesday Mr. Bush called on Iran to "come clean" on its nuclear weapons program .
Concentrate instead on encouraging our meek and feeble Congress Members to stop Mr. Bush’s mad march to war in Iran. Urge them to co-sponsor House Joint Resolution 64, sponsored by Neil Abercrombe Pending in the Senate is a companion resolution Senate Joint Resolution 23 sponsored by Barak Obama. Read the resolutions yourself by using Thomas , the Library of Congress's great bill research tool. Moveon.org Political Action collects petitions urging congress members to stand up.
Mr. Bush of course says nothing has changed, Iran is still a threat. (See also here . He also says that he just learned of the NIE days ago. His “intelligence†czar directly contradicts that, of course, stating that Mr. Bush knew months ago.
The New York Times and the Washington Post each have a “process†story. There are , of course, 8 million blog posts, but you can collect those yourself. Even though the weather outside is frightful, it is time for action.
