My kids on meeting Ferrer and Obama: "That was so awesome, mami"
"Is this Fernando?", asked my youngest son as he pointed to a campaign flier while waiting for Ferrer who was making a campaign stop with Barak Obama.
"Yes honey, that is Fernando Ferrer".
"So is he real?"
"What do you mean is he real?"
My oldest jumped in, "Is he a real person? You know, as in not an actor in a movie or something."
The question took me by surprise. It had never occurred to me they needed to meet Fernando Ferrer in order to make a connection. "Yes honey, he is a real person

This is really an important issue to write about because, quite frankly, there is no scalability in today's political system. People think Bloomberg's money made politics bigger. I argue that on the contrary, the reason why he spent so much money proves the political process, the interaction between candidates and incumbents, between citizens and the government happens at a much more small level --and that's why it takes so many resources and money.
