My Children vs. Sarah Palin

So I asked my son (age 4) whether Africa is a continent or a country. He immediately responded "a continent."

He knows more than Sarah Palin.

My wife asked my step-daughter (age 13) whether the VP is the "head of the Senate." She said "no." My wife then asked what the role of the VP is in the Senate and my step-daughter answered, "has the tie-breaking vote if there is a tied vote."

She knows more than Sarah Palin.

Just why do Republicans think Sarah Palin is qualified if she doesn't know more than my kids?

Palin and Africa

President-Elect Obama said he was going to vist all 58 states. Now we know he knows there are 50 states. The press gave him a break because he was probably exhusted when he said it. Howcome know braak for Gov. Palin.

mole333's picture

Because

In her case it was a consistent pattern. In Obama's case it was an exception.

Bouldin's picture

Not even that.

Obama was talking about the Veterans Administration at the time, which has 57 offices. So that's where that came from, not that any traitor repug would know that.

ROSALIE907's picture

When Obama Said That There Were 57 States

He looked so exhausted and besides, he made 1 mistake, but like Michael said, Palin's is a pattern. Also, I've met Michael's kids and I can tell you that they're both very smart and 4 year old Jacob knows his stuff.

Real American's picture

hahaha! You weak minded

hahaha! You weak minded fools! Truly a great country where idiots like you could put your gibberish online for the world to read. It's no wonder many in the world think Americans are idiots. You're the classic example. You speak of a pattern! But like idiot obama (lower case intended), it's an empty statement! All a play on words with no substance! I dare you make your case! Put the pattern out there! Like the Africa thing that's bogus anyway, you "DON'T" have anything! Palin is far smarter and more "American" than your messiah. Go ahead if you dare to step into the arena with a conservative that knows more about anything you'll ever know instead of picking on people like the previous commenter Gothanonymous Reader. Oh and since your dimwitted, this is for the assmole and rosie his dimwitted follower.

mole333's picture

Wow

First off, let me remind you that Obama/Biden just kicked McCain/Palin's asses by a landslide. So, you are basically calling a majority of American voters idiots. I am sure that is going to go over well and you sure seem to be demonstrating a very un-American dislike of democracy.

As to the "substance" of your statement, let me just quote from the Stockton Record, a conservative paper that hadn't endorsed a Democrat in 72 years when they endorsed Obama:

Republicans have tried repeatedly to paint Obama as an elitist. Hardly. He grew up in a single-parent home and, by the sheer force of his desire and cerebral horsepower, ended up at Harvard Law School, where he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review.

He could have gone for the money. He didn't. He went to Chicago, where he worked to give a voice to those who didn't have one.

That's hardly the mark of an elitist.

He hasn't lost touch with regular people, whereas McCain doesn't even know how many homes he owns.

Finally, as to your calling others dimwitted, well all I can say is that your own comments demonstrate your own cerebral capabilities.

Bouldin's picture

Heh.

Hey, pig, how's that permanent majority thing going? Great, huh?

Oh, and about Miss Saks Fifth Avenue, from Roll Call:

Two-thirds of voters saw the “Saturday Night Live” election parodies during the campaign season and 10 percent said the program had an influence on their vote. Asked whether they would prefer Alaska Gov. Saran Palin (R) or actress Tina Fey — who portrayed Palin on the show, to hilarious effect — as vice president, 51 percent said Fey.

Bye now. Maybe we'll let you offer some amendments ten years from now.

mole333's picture

What amazes me is...

What amazes me is how frightened and angry these fanatics get when faced with the fact there are 4-year olds with a better grasp of reality than Sarah Palin. I mean they are so pathetically frightened now that their right wing ideology is so thoroughly discredited.

The Only One

Who has every called me Rosie on this blog or in Room 8 is Gatemouth. So I guess this is you Gatemouth. Tell us,are you just mad at what Michael did or maybe you're really a Republican in disguise.

mole333's picture

Doubtful

Gatemouth may be willing to excuse Vito Lopez way too often (though not always) he is not a closet Republican. I have major problems with his local stands, but he and I agree on most state and national issues.

Whoever this idiot is, it is not Gatemouth. Gatemouth would side with my little Yankele (Jacob) over Palin any day.

ROSALIE907's picture

I Doubt It Too

I've had my disagreements with Gatemouth also but he wouldn't defend an idiot like Sarah Palin against anyone. The only reason why I thought so was this person called me "Rosie" and you know my name is not Rosie and the only one on the blogs that has called me that name is him.

What I do know is that whoever wrote that post sits on their brains.

Gothanonymous Reader's picture

Palin vs Biden

Yeah, it's true Sarah is not up on her geopolitics, but then neither is Joe Biden. He doesn't know the difference between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and he thinks Lebanon is a NATO country.

As for our right-wing ideology being discredited, it has not been. The masses are selfish and want money for nothing and and chicks for free and lots of cheap gas and the left has promised to deliver all that. That is why Obama has been elected. For that reason and because he is Black. He will fail to deliver like all the other Black lefties who have gone before him. People never appreciate things they get for free. They will commence to bitching about the unfairness of it. Like the babies they are. Then Sarah Palin will begin to look very good to them, ignorance and all.

mole333's picture

Ah...the truth comes out

So you are now admitting that you are an elitist who looks down on "the masses" (meaning, of course, working and middle class Americans). Typical Republican eltists! And you admit that you are a racist who looks down on blacks. Typical Republican. No wonder blacks, Asians, Hispanics and Native Americans all overwhelmingly voted for Obama. People have seen how ugly, racist and elitist the Republican Party has become under Bush and they are rejecting it completely.

As to Joe Biden, he is among the most respected Senators from either party on foreign policy. I am sure he can teach almost anyone something about geopolitics while Sarah Palin knows NOTHING. There is no comparison between Joe Biden and Sarah "Ignorance is Bliss" Palin, and you know it. Even Fox News knows it. I think you are just so terrified that American voters (you know, those people you disdain as the stupid masses) have woken up to just how the right wing are about nothing but greed and know nothing about governance.

sidnora's picture

This is perfect.

"The masses are selfish and want money for nothing and and chicks for free and lots of cheap gas."

A perfect expression of the Republican electoral strategy. Condition people to believe that greed is good and all taxes are a threat to "their" money . That's why people who can barely make ends meet defend the real masters of the right, the CEOs of multinational corporations, who have looted the US treasury, and whose ill-gotten (but it's all perfectly legal!) gains are safely salted away in offshore banks.

You poor sap.

Wasn't this Africa continent

Wasn't this Africa continent content confirmed as a rumor? Even so, I think it's an exaggeration of the truth. Regardless of which specific thing she did or did not know, it's pretty clear Sarah Palin did not seem as informed on world affairs as her opponent(s). I suppose we'll get her complete side of the story after she inks her multi million dollar book deal.

Rumor

Pretty sure a "confirmed rumor" would be considered an oxymoron, but I get what you mean.

Yes, I think it was an off the record comment by McCain campaign workers angry over the disastrous Palin candidacy. So technically it counts as rumor. Though of course a very plausible rumor given the abysmally stupid comments she made publicly in interviews and speeches.

Only in New York

Sorting out the "truth" may seem a treacherous endeavor in such a politically polarized time. But we believe our journalists can play a greater role as an honest broker for voters bewildered by the barrage of campaign talk.

So in a move rare for a news organization, we're dedicating a team of reporters and researchers to meticulously examine the rhetoric of candidates and their partisans, and then make a call: Is the claim true or not?

You might think such work would be standard journalistic fare. But many news organizations can spend less money and get less grief if their political reporting sticks to stenography and puffery.

It's easier to record the words and claims of competing candidates than to vet their accuracy. It's easier to write about the strategy of using negative advertising than to do the painstaking research to sort out whether the claim is actually true or false.

— Neil Brown, Executive Editor of the St. Petersburg Times, announcing Politifact, a new project to determine whether candidate statements are actually true.
