New York's Congressional Republicans: Out of Touch With America

What issues matter to you? National defense? The rights of working class Americans? Seniors issues? A woman's right to choose? The environment?

On all of these issues, New York Republicans are out of touch with America. Most Americans want a strong national defense, support the rights of working class Americans, women and seniors, and place a high value on the environemnt. New York Congressional Republicans have the wrong priorities on national defense, support Halliburton profits but not a minimum wage increase, want to privatise Social Security, place the rights of pollutors over the environment and the health of Americans, and oppose a woman's right to choose.

I want to review my analysis from last year to remind New Yorkers of the ratings of NY State Republicans on key issues. Below I have ratings on National Defense (A through F, from Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America), Seniors issues (lifetime rating on a scale of 0-100 from Alliance for Retired Americans), environment (most recent ratings on a scale of 0-100, League of Conservation Voters, an organization), Labor issues (lifetime score from 0-100, AFL-CIO) and reproductive rights (lifetime score from 0-100, Planned Parenthood).

Let's look at what NY Republicans stand for:

NY-25: James Walsh: National Defense: C+; Seniors: 6%; Environment: 58%; Labor: 34%; Choice: 0%

NY-13: Vito Fossella: National Defense: C+; Seniors: 9%; Environment: 17%; Labor: 15%; Choice: 0%

NY-26: Thomas Reynolds: National Defense: C; Seniors: 2%; Environment: 8%; Labor: 12%; Choice: 0%

NY-29: Randy Kuhl: National Defense: D; Seniors: 10%; Environment: 33%; Labor: 33%; Choice: 0%

Pretty dismal ratings on these issues that Americans value. New York's Republicans are weak on national defense, do not support our seniors, are mediocre to lousy on environmental and labor issues, and rock bottom when it comes to the rights of a woman over her own body. Makes you wonder just what their priorities are...oh, yeah, Halliburton and Exxon profits. Why do Republicans hate America?

America needs a change. Let's get rid of these Republicans who care more about Exxon's profits than your family. Let's get rid of these Republicans who are so out of touch with American values. Help Daily Gotham defeat these four out of touch Congressional Republicans.

Progressive Districts

“These guys just don’t know when to quit. The Senate Republicans holding an ethics hearing is like O.J. searching for the real killer. Senate Republicans should end the partisan theatrics and join the Governor in getting back to work on the real issues that matter to working families. Let’s end the show trial, leave the investigating to the investigators, and get back to work.”

— Jonathan Rosen for the New York State Democratic Committee
