Rumor Mill Says: Recchia is Dropping Out, Harrison has clear field

[UPDATE: I have heard from two others that they have heard the same, that Recchia is dropping out. On the other hand, someone is claiming to have heard right from someone close to Recchia himself that the rumor is not true. Well...that's the nature of rumors! Take it all with a grain of salt.]

[SECOND UPDATE: I am hearing Recchia's campaign is denying the rumor. Time will tell. It may just be a case of them not being ready to bow out or it may be that a decision hasn't yet been reached by there has been discussion, or it could be Albany gossip was wrong.]

A rumor from Albany was passed along tonight at the Independent Neighborhood Democrats meeting. It is unconfirmed. I have only one person's word on it, but that person is not one to spread random rumors. That person thinks the rumor is reliable, but will check on it.

The Albany Rumor Mill tells me that Dominic Recchia is dropping out of the NY-13 Congressional race. Seems he has not raised enough money to date and feels he can't be competitive. Given other rumors I have heard with less credibility, I wonder if some higher ups in the Dem Party warned him off. I hear his claims of support from the DCCC have come to naught.

Again, this rumor is unconfirmed but I feel it comes from a good source.

So, if this rumor is correct, it seems Steve Harrison has a clear primary field to take on corrupt Bush Lap Dog Vito Fossella for the NY-13 Congressional Seat.

If you want to help Steve Harrison kick Vito "Bush Lover" Fossella out, you can donate here.

First Republican in Democrat's clothing Bodkin clears out to give Jimmy Dahroug a clear field in the SD-3 State Senate race, now it seems Dominic Recchia is clearing out to give Steve Harrison a clear field in the NY-13 Congressional race. This seems to be a good week for Daily Gotham's candidates.

Great News

I know this is just a rumor but hopefully it's true. Recchia is the wrong candidate, doesn't live in the district and knows nothing of it and it's problems. Steve Harrison is the only candidate that can defeat Vito Fossella in November. If this is true I hope the entire Democratic Party in NYC will now endorse and back Steve Harrison both financially and their bodies.

Mr. Recchia has been increasingly invisible in the district and

the race. He has shown up at fewer and fewer district events and long ago stopped returning my phone calls. It's been said that the reason he didn't arrive at recent Brooklyn club debates was that one of his children was accidentally injured. I do hope that injury is not the occasion or reason for his rumored departure.

If it's true, Mr. Recchia

If it's true, Mr. Recchia has finally come to realize that even though the Brooklyn bosses wanted him in the race, you can't shove it down the throats of Saten Islanders. They won't go for that type of pressure. You do need the support of the PEOPLE too!

Saten Islanders

Had you spelled it "Satin" I would have joked about it sounding like a local club frequented by Spitzer...

Why do I

end up missing all the best meetings? (I had a good excuse.)

Even if this is only a rumor, it's a good thing. It sounds plausible, especially in light of Daniel Millstone's observations, and things like this can sometimes end up being self-fulfilling - it can certainly make potential donors think twice.

I've been so disconnected that your mention is the first I'd heard about Bodkin dropping out, too. On the whole, you've improved my mood today considerably.

Rumor Mill Says: Harrison is ready to handle the needs of his..

constituency.

A rumor from Bay Ridge was passed along tonight at Eamon Doran’s. It is unconfirmed. I have only one person's word on it, but that person is not one to spread unless they are really juicy. That person thinks the rumor is reliable, but will check on it.

The Albany Rumor Mill tells me that congressional candidate Steve Harrison is the leader of a transvestite prostitution ring. Seems he has not raised enough money for his congressional date and feels this is the only way he can be competitive. Given other rumors I have heard with less credibility, I wonder if some higher ups in the Dem Party warned him it was time to put up or shut up. I hear his claims of support tons of cash from national progressive networks have come to naught.

Again, this rumor is unconfirmed but I feel it is what I want to hear.

If you want to help Steve Harrison you can call Bruce at 1-900- BEN-OVER.

UPDATE: I have heard from two others that they have heard the same, that Harrison runs a transvestite prostitution ring. On the other hand, someone is claiming to have heard right from someone close to Harrison himself that the rumor is not true. Well...that's the nature of rumors! Take it all with a grain of salt.]

[SECOND UPDATE: I am hearing Harrison's campaign is denying the rumor. Time will tell. It may just be a case of them not being ready to handle the additional customer demand entailed by publicity or it may be that they are short staffed and low on essential supplies, or it could be that the barroom gossip was wrong.]

Why worry about truth?

Dear 666 (Mark of the Beast?), I get your point about rumors but

where has Mr. Recchia gone to? He's reported to have had two bad family events: an injured child and an assault on his wife. Perhaps he's just taking some time off to re-center after those bad events.

His NYC Council Committee was scheduled to meet Monday. Did it?

Oddly, by the way, much of that meeting conflicted with the crucial Council hearing on congestion pricing. I did not see Mr. Recchia at that but I could have missed him. Did anyone see him?

The Staten Island Advance says that Congestion Pricing is crucial for SI transit improvements. Council Members Oddo & MacMahon are involved in the debate. Where is Mr. Recchia?

mole333's picture

Indeed

He has also blown off about every Democratic Club in the district, leaving Harrison to pick up many of their endorsements. I think that goes back before his personal tragedies.

Honestly, I would not like these personal tragedies be the reason for him to drop out. I wish him and his family the best. But not showing up to the local clubs seems to predate that, and I hear his fundraising is not what he had targeted for to consider himself to be viable in a district where his name is barely known.

As to the rumor...well, I don't repeat rumors I hear from a campaign unless I get independent confirmation. This was not from a campaign. It is Albany common wisdom...which could easily be wrong, but I may have done Recchia a favor by letting him know the real insiders think he's out of it. Again, wouldn't want him to be forced out because he had to take time off for family problems.

And as to "Mole666...": I am sure that in such a Catholic district no one will listen to the anything said by someone who makes fun of their religion. I suspect Recchia might like to distance himself from this guy, don't you think?

ROSALIE907's picture

Recchia

I heard last night that they caught the SOB who attacked her and I hope they put him away for a VERY long time.

Recchia is still undecided on congestive pricing. Some think he's looking to make a deal with Bloomberg on behalf of his friends, the Sitts, and Coney Island Redevelopment.

Mole666's picture

"Congestive" pricing?

Rosie: Great phrse; hope it was on purpose (and I say that, despite the fact I support it). I think there's a job for you in Lew Fidler's office if you want it.

David Molechelson: Come now, is 666 really just a Catholic thing? And is using it anymore anti-Catholic than making a Rosh Hashanh joke about the McGreeveys and their driver would be anti-Semitic? Methinks the gentleman doth protest too much.

Anyway, I first heard the term 666 used sarcastically in a John Lennon song (I think it was called "Freida Peeple"). Does this mean Dom would have to boycott the Beatles,or just John's solo work?

mole333's picture

666

I believe (as a Jew who knows a lot of Christian history, right down to the origin of "differing by one iota") that 666 as the mark of the beast goes back to the Book of Revelation (although some think the original number was 616, and 666 may have been a mistake.

All Christian sects have some sense of the Anti-Christ...but really as far as I know only Catholics elaborate it to any real degree. And they went so far as to discuss which Pope or anti-Pope fit which elaboration of the Anti-Christ during the Middle Ages. That was a time where there were usually 2 Popes, and occasionally more, so there was much room for accusations. It is in Catholocism that 666 and the anti-Christ really is important. And many really take it seriously. Now it doesn't bother me...but Recchia might not like his name associated with making fun of Christian Theology.

But I suppose you are right...on some level you are insulting all Christians, not just Catholics. And, in fact, some might think you are even insulting Jews since 666 appears in the Old Testement as in the amount of gold (666 talents) King Solomon raked in each year.

As to "congestive pricing," given your many typos, one might bring up the phrase "glass houses."

ROSALIE907's picture

Listen Gatemouth

Only you would be so immature and ignorant to write something as stupid as this. As for my spelling error who died and made you the spelling police. Go back to your hole.

Mole666's picture

Quibbbling

I thought "congestive" pricing was clever. I wished I'm have said it.

And I'm called Mole666 because I'm twice as good as the competition.
