Something to Remember as you Pay Your Taxes
Remember, as you pay those state and local taxes, Ratner thanks you: (from DDDB)

And remember...the taxpayer funded gift of Atlantic Yards is only the beginning of what the state and city can do for the man with no business plan. Ratner has already been promised more land with minimal review. How much with the NEXT corrupt Ratner deal cost us?

I discovered this blog through mydd.com. I immediately made it one of the tabs that opens when I launch my browser because I love New York City like a close friend.
Now, on only my third day, I'm taking it off the list.
I am so sick of ignorant obstructionists with knee jerk reactions against progress.
Yes, some people will be inconvenienced by the Atlantic Yards project - some horribly.
However, there is a greater good that should take precedence. For proof of the efficacy of that just look at Robert Moses: vilified during his time, and now the roads and bridges he built are directly responsible for the continued vibrancy of NYC.
New York City is not a museum. It is one of the great cities of the world, and as such, it needs to grow and change and evolve to match the times.
Downtown Brooklyn is a blighted neighborhood - one of the worst left in the city outside the Bronx, and this will generate business beyond just what happens in the project for years to come.
Bloomberg and Markowitz are responsible politicians - some of the best we've had in years - and while not all their decisions are perfect, the Atlantic Yards is a clear net gain for the city.
Get a life. Protesting just to protest is childish.
