Tracy Boyland: Albany isn't looking out for [Ratner] anymore

Speculation from people as diverse as DDDB and Gatemouth have speculated that Tracy Boyland's run for State Senate against popular and experienced Senator Velmanette Montgomery is completely driven by Ratner. The allegation is that Tracy Boyland is the "Ratner pawn."

Tracy Boyland's campaign motto, from her campaign literature, is "I just don't think the politicians in Albany are looking out for US anymore..."

If the allegations that she is the "Ratner pawn" then by "us" she must mean herself and Ratner.

According to the September 6th issue of the Brooklyn Papers:

She has no money.

She has no office.

She has volunteers who disseminate inaccurate information.

She once violated campaign finance rules by taking cash from developers, property management firms and non-profits.

So why does former City Councilwoman Tracy Boyland think she has a chance in the Sept. 12 primary against 22-year state Sen. Velmanette Montgomery?

...this week the candidate--daughter of a prominent state Assembywoman, William Boyland, Sr.--admitted that the Atlantic Yards developer [Bruce Ratner] was "helping" her campaign.

So, Boyland admits that she is Ratner's pawn? She is willing to be a part of a corrupt process that is predicted to "scar Brooklyn permanently?"

She uses affordable housing and her excuse, but by doing this she is spreading the same disinformation that Ratner is, implying that Ratner is the only chance for affordable housing. In truth there is an alternative plan that ALSO offers affordable housing but isn't mired in corruption and isn't as inappropriate for Brooklyn.

In her campaign lit, Tracy Boyland is really saying: It's time for Albany to put [Ratner's] interests first. And THAT is why she is running: to help Ratner. I think blind support for Ratner is not enough for Boyland to win. Even the NY Times didn't buy it and endorsed Velmanette for re-election.

She's over

Word on the street has it that she's stopped paying her people and basically shut down her campaign. Good riddance - the Boylands have always been worthless.

Glad to hear it

This woman's entire political career seems to have been that of professional spoiler. I am tired of having to deal with her every other year. I hope she goes away and stays away.

That said, I'm sure Velmanette would've kicked her ass anyway.

A "New" Era of What?

Just received Boyland's horrific campaign piece in the mail. She sounds a trumpet for a "New Era of Understanding." Understanding what? That she has so little regard for her constituents that she mails out such crappy material? It must have been written by the whole Boyland family because it would take a committee to butcher the language to the degree this piece did. Given the bad print job it was probably printed in her daddy's basement. How in the world can people--especially in my Bed-Stuy community--continue to vote for such idiots?
