Yassky's Endorsement Problem
I don't get this. Really I don't. Rumor has it David Yassky loses ANOTHER endorsement.
I have now heard this from two sources. Apparently Jesse Hamilton, who is running for the Assembly in the 43rd district, has un-endorsed David Yassky and is now campaigning for Chris Owens. There is no indication on Chris' website that Jesse Hamilton has endorsed Chris, but campaigning for Chris is at least an implied endorsement (much like Jim Dean's fundraiser for Chris).
And remember this isn't the first time Yassky has lost an endorsement. Thelma Davis, mother of the slain city council member James Davis, first endorsed then un-endorsed David Yassky.
So Yvette Clarke claims endorsements she never got. David Yassky gets endorsements then loses them. I honestly don't understand what's up with this.

I think you are wrong
You are only considering the demographic you are familiar with. Yassky was playing up BOTH these endorsements considerably because they appealed to the black community where his support is paper thin. Davis in particular was featured in his mailings. Hamilton was mentioned by Yassky repeatedly. He is the one who emphasized these endorsements over and over, so losing them is a problem.
YOU might not care about them, but Yassky thought they were important enough to emphasize.
speaking of endorsements
speaking of endorsements, Yassky got one at the west indian day parade, in every sense but the words, from Mike Bloomberg. The two were out there together and Bloomy was full of praise for Yassky. Of course the incident was marred. This is from the NY Sun report:
An appearance that could be interpreted as a last-minute attempt to boost Mr. Yassky's campaign seemed to backfire, however, when hecklers disrupted the event and a donut dropped from an apartment landed close to where the mayor and Mr. Yassky were standing.
Mr. Bloomberg praised Mr. Yassky's performance on the City Council but stopped short of endorsing his candidacy for Congress. "I've always thought that David Yassky was a city councilman that worked very hard for the city, and I'll leave it up to the voters who they vote for," the mayor said.
The hecklers at the event identified themselves as supporters of Mr. Owens, but a spokeswoman for Mr. Owens said they did not work for the campaign. "We were not involved in the incident whatsoever," the spokeswoman, Amyre Loomis, said.
Well lets see, the hecklers "identified themselves" as Owens supporters, and the reporter bought it? Then again, this is the Sun we're talking about, they'd believe anything.
Although Bouldin, if it was you who chucked that chocolate doughnut at Yassky's head, you'd own up to it right?
I've watched Madagascar one too many times
I love the bit where the monkey that can speak tells the mute one, "Let's go fling some poo at Tom Wolfe".
That would be Michael. Wit. Tom Wolfe. Poo.

The donut brigade
Myself and Amyre were completely incredulous at the donut story; we first learned about it when a reporter called (!) to confirm it.
Long story short, our volunteer person ran a quick check of the database, and the two donut-throwers were not in it, meaning they most certainly have no ties to us.
David might wish to consider applying his immense talents to actually knowing what he is talking about. Simply put, his candidacy ain't that popular in the black community. Myself, I consider this incident a waste of a perfectly good donut, though I hear reliably - from the press (!) - that it was only half of one, so it's not a total loss.
Take it from whom it comes
The Times' coverage of the story (in which the donut was thrown, not dropped), made no mention of any campaign affiliation of the donut-throwers.
It's likely that they are kids who decided to get "creative", or that they were put up to it by one of the other campaigns and told to claim they were Owens volunteers; too bad we don't have access to their volunteer databases!

endorsement?
who is the assemblyman in the 43rd again? Clarence?
It was Norman's seat. After
It was Norman's seat. After Norman's conviction, a special election was held and Karim Camara, who is a member of the church where Clarence Norman Sr. (the jailed Norman's father) is pastor, won.
Right now it is Jesse Hamilton and Saquan Jones are challenging Camara.

People who make these
People who make these endorsements, and then un-endorsements, do a real disservice to the voting public, who already are having enough of a hard time keeping this crazy election straight.
I am no fan of Yassky, however, these people making endorsements need to start thinking things through, instead of worrying about their own potential opportunism. It is sickening how little conviction some of these people have (not just the candidates for Congress).
Yes and no
On the one hand, you probably have a point. On the other hand, at least in the case of Thelma Davis, Yassky failed to maintain adequate respect for Thelma and her senior's group after the endorsement. At least that was the original reason Thelma gave. In other words, she would say that he proved too uncaring once he got the endorsement and that soured her.
I don't know Hamilton's reasons.
The Davis endorsement
The Davis endorsement was withdrawn because Yassky wouldn't pay Thelma Davis's son off. This was payola, he wanted money paid to his "consulting firm" in exchange for the endorsement. It would have been worse for Yassky to pay this guy off than to have the endorsement withdrawn. Also if Thelma Davis thinks not paying her son off and renting vans instead of buses for her friends to go to a rally, so they didn't have to take the subway, was not "showing respect to her", then she is not worthy of respect. I thought it did not speak well of the Davis's own character that one week they said to the community that david yassky was the beat candidate to take the seat in congress, and the next-- purely because they felt "disrespected"-- they not only unendorsed him but said he should drop out altogether. They were the ones who came off looking bad.

David Yassky
David is a bum for disrespecting the Davis family. Because of that he lost all the black vote.
Maybe he'll get the coons vote who remain close to him but Davis said the hell with Yassky I'm staying black, and I agree with him. Yassky's people didnt appreciate that kind of love. Now Yassky is scranbling for a black base. Go Davis Go
How did Yassky disrespect Davis?
How did Yassky disrespect the Yassky family? By not paying a bribe to Davis's son? By renting vans instead of buses because Davis's friends were too lazy or cheap to take the subway to city hall for the press conference? That is hardly showing disprect, it was petty of the Davis family.

lets not overstate things
lets not overstate things and present the impression that anyone actually cares who Jesse Hamiltion endorses. There are only a very few endorsements that matter, and the Hamilton endorsement isn't one of them and the Davis family certainly wasn't one of them.
