Republican failure

NY State Republican Party to NY State: Drop Dead!

Okay, this really, really seems about as stupid as you can get. The NY State Republican Party has invited Texas Senator Ted Cruz to be the guest of honor at their May 29 annual dinner. This is the same Texas Senator whose very first major act upon entering Congress was to OPPOSE Hurricane Sandy relief funds, calling them "pork." Yes, Ted Cruz said a great big "drop dead" to all the New Yorkers whose homes were destroyed in the hurricane, all the devastation in the Rockaways was just "pork" and New York should just buck up and move on. Our devastated hospitals are just "pork." Ted Cruz voted AGAINST helping New Yorkers in their time of need...though he ALSO is greedily grabbing for the same kind of relief funds to help Texas when it needed help after the West Fertilizer Co explosion (an avoidable disaster basically caused by Republican deregulation of safety standards).

Let that sink in: the invited guest of honor for the NY State Republican Party's annual dinner voted AGAINST Hurricane Sandy aid but wants the same kind of aid for Texas.

Okay, Ted Cruz is a hypocritical scum who hates New York and loves Texas. Fine. He represents Texas so that makes some sense in the selfish, unfair and nasty sort of way Republicans seem to love. But for the NY State Greedy Oil Party to invite someone who blatantly wanted to screw New York after Hurricane Sandy to be their guest of honor at their annual dinner is just beyond stupid. Does the NY State Greedy Oil Party also like Texas better than New York? It sure seems that way.

The 22 Republican Senators Who Support Violence Against Women

The Violence Against Women Act passed the Senate 78-22. For years this has passed with bipartisan support...but now 22 Republican Senators decided to take a stand in FAVOR of violence against women. Notice ALL of them are men:

Here is a list of these abuse enablers: Sens. John Barrasso (WY), Roy Blunt (MO), John Boozman (AR), Tom Coburn (OK), John Cornyn (TX), Ted Cruz (TX), Mike Enzi (WY), Lindsey Graham (SC), Chuck Grassley (IA), Orrin Hatch (UT), James Inhofe (OK), Mike Johanns (NE), Ron Johnson (WI), Mike Lee (UT), Mitch McConnell (KY), Rand Paul (KY), Jim Risch (ID), Pat Roberts (KS), Marco Rubio (FL), Tim Scott (SC), Jeff Sessions (AL) and John Thune (SD).

Now, will the Do-Nothing/Know-Nothing House Republicans follow the lead of these 22 Senators and support violence against women? Or will they do the right thing and support the damned bill?

Click here to send a message to the House Republicans telling them to support the Senate version of the Violence Against Women act.

And send ANOTHER kind of message to the 22 Republican Senators who support violence against women...donate to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee so we can vote some of the bastards out.

Derek the Abstinence Clown

Came across this little waste of tax money: Derek the Abstinence Clown. Yes...you read that right. Derek Dye was paid as part of the Abstinence Only program to promote abstinence. Here is a video of Derek at work:

Now, this guy is just awful. And on many blogs he gets a lot of crap for how bad he is. But I am cutting him some slack. His performance (no pun intended) isn't what I am going to rant about. I don't even know if he writes his own material. It sounds like something written by a committee. He may just be a well-meaning schlamiel trying to make a buck and probably sincerely trying to do right by kids. Probably this was the best he could do with what is pretty much lousy material.  read more »

Kissing Bloomberg's Ass is NOT the Change we Need

In 2008 there was a massive shift in the electoral map and a rejection of failed Republican ideology. But it seems New York "Democrats" didn't get the memo. New York Democrats seem to be wetting themselves over the man who was the biggest individual donor to Tom DeLay's right wing extremist PAC: Michael Bloomberg.

Bloomberg may not be an insane right winger like Bush, but he WAS a major donor to the Bush Republicans and advocates a very similar "privatization" scheme that favors donors and sacrifices actual effective government. Closing down firehouses while showering developers with money, outsourcing pre-K enrollment to an inept company, creating a crisis for many parents, illegally imprisoning Democrats protesting the Republican Convention...the list of Bloomberg BS goes on. And for some reason we are seeing Democrats glom their lips on Bloomberg's posterior, almost fighting eachother to get in the wettest kiss.  read more »

9/11...Seven Years Later

Where is Osama bin Laden SEVEN YEARS after his 9/11 attack on my city? Same place he was seven years ago only stronger than ever.

Seven years.

Mr. Bush...what part of "Osama bin Laden determined to attack the US" didn't you understand?

And why haven't you stopped al-Qaeda and caught bin Laden? Seven years after Pearl Harbor we had decisively won the war and rebuilt and gotten our economy booming. Seven years after Pearl Harbor Hitler was dead and many of those responsible for atrocities brought to justice in an international court of law. Seven years after 9/11, where is Osama bin Laden?
