More complicated than all that
Kathy Konst announced weeks ago that she planned to run; it was in the Buffalo News on May 29. The fact that her website's home page is still unavailable is not a good sign for her. (Interestingly, if you Google her name, you can get direct access to other pages on the site, which is even stranger.)
Also running, according to the Buffalo News, are Powers, Alice Kryzan, and 2006 Democratic nominee Jack Davis -- who has a case pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Davis is rich, and is spending a lot of his own money on this race. Under current campaign finance law, there is a "millionaire's exemption" from donation limits. When you have an opponent who spends a lot of his/her own money, your donors can give more than the standard $2,300 limit. Davis is challenging this exemption. Stay tuned for further developments -- this could have major repercussions.
