MoveOn.org's Friday Phonebanking and Beer Drinking in Brooklyn

This was sent to me by MoveOn.org. They are working DAMNED hard to win Congress. Give them some help and have some fun as well:

Hi guys. It's getting down to crunch time in our campaign to rid Congress of corporate cronies,

incompetent buffoons, Bush rubber-stamps, self-righteous conservatives, Iraq warmongers, and

pedophiles (also known, collectively, as the 'Republican Congress').

It's also almost Friday night, a traditional time of revelry and socializing.

So we're combining these two imperatives this week with a night of critical volunteering and

laid-back drinking. We will be running a phone-banking shift here at our Carroll Gardens

campaign office from 8pm to 10pm (calling MoveOn members in New York and Arizona, to get them

involved on the campaign), and then heading as a group out to the local progressive watering

hole, Abilene. It should be a good chance to meet local MoveOn volunteers, make a difference in

this year's election, and do something different on a Friday night. Here are the specifics:

Who: You, of course, but also any other friends or family you happen to have who are also fed up

with our Republican government, and willing to do more than just complain about it!

When: This Friday night (the 13th), at 7:30 for new volunteers, 8pm for returning volunteers.

Calling goes until 10pm, socializing as late as you like.

Where: Starting at the MoveOn Brooklyn Campaign office, at 102 1st Place, 2nd floor,

b/w Court and Smith streets (just above Scotto's funeral home). Ending at Abilene, 442 Court

Street, between 3rd and 4th.

Why: Because you know you don't want to see Dennis Hastert standing behind President Bush at

any more State of the Unions, and because you want to meet other folks that feel the same way.

How: If you've made some of these calls with us here before, just show up. If not, just show up

at 7:30 and we'll train you. RSVPs to this email address are greatly appreciated, but even if

you can't email us back, you can still come in.

See you Friday!

MoveOn.org hate speech

Is the beer event BYOS (Bring Your Own Sheet) or will sheets and hoods be provided? If open fires are not allowed, will the cross be lit up with electric lights?

All kidding aside, I would WANT a hood over my face if I went to a MoveOn event. I sure wouldn't want a friend, neighbor, employer, or other community member to recognize me.

MoveOn.org's Action Forum is a welcoming platform for racist and anti-Semitic hate speech that is probably worse than what the modern Klan slings around. It goes well beyond poor-taste Jewish and Negro jokes, it evokes hatred of Jews and contempt for Black people.

And I don't NEED no stinkin' anonymity, because I want my name on it when MoveOn goes down like the stinking manure sack it is and doesn't get up again.
