Staten Island Teabagger Displays Hypocrisy AND Stupidity
The sheer blindness of Teabaggers (again, THEY chose that name, so they can stop whining about our using it) is really quite amazing. They say (may even believe) that they are for the average American, but then they do the bidding of the Billionaire Koch Brothers in opposing everything that actually helps average Americans and support everything that helps billionaires. Complete blind hypocrisy.
But then sometimes the hypocrisy is even more blatant. I mean sometimes it stares you in the face and yet the Teabaggers STILL are blind to it. Take the Staten Island Tebagger Supreme Frank Santarpia. This guy rants and raves against "sweetheart deals for the well-connected" yet he is part of the organization funded by the Billionaire Koch Brothers and supports tax breaks for the very rich, the ultimate "sweetheart deal for the well-connected" that is best known and reviled as "trickle down economics" or, in the words of an intelligent Bush, "Voodoo Economics."
Staten Island Tebagger Supreme Frank Santarpia ALSO rants and raves against government healthcare for anyone...except I guess himself. He has become a Republican Party hack in exchange for some of that government run healthcare. From the SI Live:
Staten Island Tea Party stalwart Frank Santarpia, a forceful opponent of "Obamacare," big government and sweetheart deals for the well-connected, has accepted a part-time job on the staff of City Councilman James Oddo.
While the position pays only $9,000 a year, it comes with health care coverage.
Santarpia, the public face of the Tea Party on Staten Island, said he sees no contradiction.
"Obamacare is more along the lines of socialized medicine," Santarpia told the Advance. "New York City is my employer, and I am accepting health care from my employer."
First off, when people propose giving the EXACT same kind of coverage to the public it is suddenly socialized medicine. Yet whey the EXACT SAME kind of coverage is offered to him, he says it is fine. Seems to me this guy wants his own personal "sweetheart deal for the well-connected." To me that spells hypocrisy.
Second, let's take a look at that "socialized medicine." What people advocate in its best form is modeled after places like Sweden, the Netherlands, Israel, Japan, Germany...perfectly capitalist, SUCCESSFUL nations. This is what Teabagger Hypocrite Supreme Santarpia is railing against, a healthcare system like they have in Sweden or Germany...which COSTS LESS than America's and yet delivers BETETR CARE.
Somehow the delivery of a better service for less money is anathema to the Teabaggers. Now we go beyond hypocrisy to stupidity. My brother, who can't afford insurance, often reminds me that America's healthcare system ranks somewhere around 37th in the world for quality of care, yet costs the most. Yes...the teabaggers ignore the fact that we pay the TOP price for care that is about equivalent to Slovenia's and Albania's. The nations that do the best in terms of quality of care (based on dozens of health outcome statistics), namely Sweden, the Netherlands, Canada, and UK, all have systems that are more "socialized" than ours and all pay less for their better care. I am not saying our health care is the worst in the world. Far from it. But when our peers for healthcare are Bosnia, Albania, North Korea and Cuba, perhaps it is time America start to emulate those at the top: Canada, Sweden, Netherlands etc. But the teabaggers, as long as the Koch Brothers send them money and the likes of Oddo give them jobs and sweet-heart deals, will continue to oppose the BETTER and CHEAPER option.
Hypocritical AND stupid. That is what the likes of Staten Island Tebagger Supreme Frank Santarpia are.

Re: Staten Island Teabagger Displays Hypocrisy AND Stupidity
James Oddo is not a Tea Party member or supporter as far as anyone knows and was going to run for Staten Island Borough President in 2009 until Bloomberg decided he wanted a 3rd term. Oddo is now planning to run in 2013 for B.P.
My belief is that Oddo only hired this guy to get Tea Party support for his 2013 Borough President bid. It's been rumored that Mike McMahon who was Congressman for CD-13 which includes all of SI and part of Brooklyn will also run for B.P. Santarpia thinks there's nothing wrong with taking Government Healthcare (www.StatenIsland Advance.com) but apparently now there are members in his Tea Bagger group that do not like what he's done and have separated themselves from him and formed their own Tea Group. Santarpia claims there are 2,000 members in the group (before the division) but I doubt it and it's probably more like 200 members active members and the rest just signed on but don't participate.
