Obama supporters in New York are stepping up our activities as we move toward super-duper Tuesday. We've been registering new voters, signing up supporters and volunteers, distributing literature and stickers and spreading hope.
Yesterday, Lamont, one of my favorite Obama supporters, led a "Walk for Obama" up Broadway from Union Square to Columbus Circle. I'll admit that when I first heard his plan, I thought it might be a bit overly ambitious. But I've learned not to underestimate Lamont.
He just started planning the event on Thursday evening, yet by the time the group gathered Sunday morning, there were nearly 100 Obama supporters Fired Up and Ready to Go.

We separated into four groups and walked on either side of Broadway, waving signs, chanting and cheering.

The reaction was incredible. People in cars beeped and waved. Passersby gave us the thumbs-up, high-fives and huge smiles. Many people took photos and video as we passed; many more asked for stickers and buttons. A good number joined in and headed uptown with us.

I hadn't planned to walk the entire route; I had things I needed to do. As we made our way uptown, I became so caught up in the enthusiasm that I continued on to Herald Square, then stayed as we marched around Macy's. I was still a bit too fired up to leave, so ventured on with the group to Times' Square.

At Times' Square I still couldn't pull myself away. If I had to sum up the atmostphere of the "Walk for Obama" in one word, it would be:
"JOYOUS."

I continued on to Columbus Circle. My errands could wait.
This is what HOPE looks like.

Here is Lamont with Ernie, who walked along with us. Ernie is 88 years old. Man do I love this campaign!
