From BBC News:
The US is losing the propaganda war against al-Qaeda and other enemies, defence chief Donald Rumsfeld has said.
It must modernise its methods to win the minds of Muslims in the "war on terror", as "enemies had skilfully adapted" to the media age, he said.
Washington and the army must respond faster to events and learn to exploit the internet and satellite TV, he said.
Okay. Let's think about this for a moment. We have been fighting al Qaeda since 2001. We are America, the richest and strongest nation on Earth. Al Qaeda is based mainly in the mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan, hiding underground.
And WE are the ones who have to modernize to catch up? WE are losing the media battle? Shouldn't this embarass every single American that we are losing the media battle to a bunch of people holed up in the mountains who we claimed to beat years ago?
Here's a hint, Mr. Rumsfeld. Maybe if we stopped invading nations based on lies and stopped torturing people we might be doing better. What do you think?
