This comes from FASEB:
Dear FASEB Society Member Colleague:
During debate on the Senate Budget Resolution, your efforts to contact your Senators and request that they support additional funding for important health and education programs, including NIH, were instrumental as the Senate approved (by an overwhelming majority, 73-27) the amendment sponsored by Senators Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Tom Harkin (D-IA) to add $7 billion for important discretionary programs.
Now, the debate has moved to the House of Representatives. The House Budget Committee is marking up its bill this week, and it is expected that the following week the full House will debate and vote on final passage of its budget resolution. Efforts are currently underway to make sure that an additional $7 billion for important health and education programs is also provided in the House Budget Resolution.
You have demonstrated that you can make a difference: Tell your Representative to support all efforts in the House to add money for important health and education programs. To contact your Representative, please click here.
I encourage you to share this message with your colleagues and neighbors and consider signing up for our electronic legislative action alerts.
Sincerely,
Bruce R. Bistrian, M.D., Ph.D.
